PHYSICIANS

Randy S. Klein, MD, Medical Director

Dr. Klein is the Medical Director and one of the founders of The Doctor Is In.  A 1983 graduate of Albany Medical College, Dr. Klein completed his residency in the Family Practice Program at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville, New Jersey.  He spent the next few years as an Emergency Room Physician at Hackettstown Hospital and Warren Hospital before opening the Clinton office of The Doctor Is In during 1987.

Dr. Klein is Board Certified in Family Practice and a Medical Review Officer (MRO).  He is a member of the Active Staff at Hunterdon Medical Center and a Clinical Professor at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.  He is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Hunterdon County Medical Society.

Among Dr. Klein's medical interests are minor cosmetic surgery, sigmoidoscopy, and "no scalpel" vasectomy all of which can be performed in any of our three offices.  He has over twenty years of experience performing these procedures.  He also enjoys all areas of occupational medicine and serves as a resource for many local businesses.

When he is not working, Dr. Klein enjoys traveling with his family and baseball.

Charles Messina, MD

Dr. Charles Messina joined the staff at The Doctor Is In after many years in private practice in the Summit area. He was on staff at Overlook Hospital in Summit , New Jersey and has served as a Clinical Instructor to medical students at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He received his Bachelor of Science at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison , New Jersey and earned his Medical Doctorate at the University of Guadalajara in Mexico . After a one year clinical internship at Toledo Hospital in Toledo , Ohio , he completed his Family Practice Residency at Overlook Hospital in Summit , New Jersey .

He has extensive experience in primary care medicine, specifically Family Practice. Dr. Messina, who is fluent in Spanish, is qualified in diagnostic skills and medical treatment for all ages.

Gita Surti, MD

Gita Surti, MD is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. She is a graduate of the University of Toledo-Medical College of Ohio. She completed her internship in Arizona and residency in Warren Hospital, NJ. During her residency she was awarded the Resident Scholar Award for Tar Wars (National Youth Anti-Smoking Campaign) by the American Academy of Family Physicians. She is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians.

Ileana Ortiz-Evans, MD

Dr. Ortiz-Evans is a Family Practitioner who came to The Doctor Is In in March 2006 after working in the Washington and Phillipsburg areas for several years.  She completed her residency at JFK Medical Center in Edison, New Jersey in July 2000, where she was Chief Resident.  She earned her Doctor of Medicine Degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School at Camden in Camden, New Jersey.

Dr. Ortiz-Evans, who is fluent in Spanish, works in both our Clinton and Phillipsburg offices.  She is a member of the American Academy of Family Practice and the American Medical Association.  She is an Active Staff member at Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington, New Jersey.

PHYSICIAN ASSISTANTS

Karen Dittman, MS, PA-C

Karen Dittman graduated from Rutgers University in 1992 with a BA degree in Psychology.  She completed her Masters of Science in Physician Assistant Studies at the University of Medicine and Dentistry in New Jersey in 1998. 

Karen Dittman is an active member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.  She has been working at the Clinton office of The Doctor Is In since 2002.

Her areas of medical interest are patient education, suturing, and procedures.

Caitlin Masci, PA-C

Caitlin Masci is a Physician Assistant who started working at The Doctor Is In in August 2011. Caitlin is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. She received her Masters degree in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Caitlin is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants. Her areas of medical interest include Cardiology

Danielle Haas, PA-C

Danielle Haas has been working at The Doctor Is In since 2002 in both the Clinton and Phillipsburg offices.  She graduated in 1999 from Lehigh University with a BS in Molecular Biology.  Danielle then went on to earn a Masters in Physician Assistant Sciences at UMDNJ Robert Wood Johnson SHRP Physician Assistant Program in 2002.

A member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, Danielle was also instrumental in implementing Electronic Medical Records at our office locations.  Her areas of medical interest include Pediatrics and Women's Health.
